Does this sound too good? You better believe it and if you even think of sending those submissions you will be on my "bad list."

I was thinking about this lately after listening to an NPR broadcast about people taking desperate measures in this tough climate. Are things tough? Yes! Heck, even my established writers are talking about finding "new approaches," but this does not mean that you should jump at deals that sound too good to be true. I have said this before and I will say it again.

There is no easy way in publishing.

  1. Ha! Reminds me of a test I was given in fourth grade. The instructions read: Please read carefully all the way through before you begin. So I read all the way through to the last page where it said: You have successfully completed the test. You read and follow instructions better than most of your classmates. Take a look around at all those who failed while you bring your paper up to the front of the class and get an 'A'. There were three of us who got an 'A' that day - mind you, there were only 18 of us in the class.

(Insert me tapping my front tooth in thought here) Exactly how many people who follow this blog will read the whole thing through before jumping up to mail their completed work to you?

Um, this is where I say: Sucks to be you next week, Scott....

Hey... I’m only kidding! It’s April fools, you know? Besides, I know that the people who follow this blog are too smart to fall for the joke or think that this may be a good excuse to send a completed manuscript to you anyway, right? Right?

  2. Hehehe. Very cute! I would never want to take the easy way, people don't appreciate hard work much these days but I do!

  3. LOL.
But Murphy? Did you have to go and ruin it for me? I was planning on sticking my MS in the post this afternoon and then I read your comment. What a stick in the mud you are! :)

    Cheers!

  4. You can know add a new word to the GRE Word of the Day - "Trickster." I didn't know agents had a sense of humor, except for my work, and they haven't stopped laughing.
