Obviously we are still following trends

This is going to be a short one, but I had to get this out there.

Despite all that we say about following trends, apparently many writers out there have failed to do that. I am being hit heavy with YA's, all claiming to be the next TWILIGHT. Last year we were hit with nothing but romantic suspense, now it is YA.

I am in no way saying to not write romantic suspense or YA, but you have to write what you know. Quit following those trends.

Remember, if you see it in a movie, that idea was hot more than 3 years ago.
