O.K. Published authors! Here is a chance for some self-promotion, as well as giving us last minute shoppers some ideas for stocking stuffers.

What ROMANCE or WOMEN'S FICTION should I buy today. Give me a list. I need AUTHOR and TITLE! Feel free to add links to your books so we can see the titles.

  1. Women's Fiction ~ If you're willing to try a work which is bold and unconventional, but not aimed for the traditional mass market, I'd suggest "Comfort Food" by Kitty Thomas.

It's an uncomfortable read but drew me in from the beginning. Ms. Thomas exposes the feelings of vulnerability women have in a world where we're physically weaker then our male counterparts. Then she delves deep into a kidnapping story where a woman is stripped of her dignity and reformed.

If you're looking for a psychological journey which explores the taboo and turns it into something twisted yet beautiful, this read might be for you.

    It's available at Amazon.

  2. What's a Ghoul to Do? by Victoria Laurie. She wrote the Psychic Eye Mysteries series.

  3. "John Halifax, Gentleman" if you can find a copy. It's a wonderful read about love, friendship and loyalty. I can't seem to find anything beautiful about "twisted or tormented", sad and unfortunate maybe?

I know... it's a strange combination. But I will go along with sad and unfortunate also. I went into the book knowing I would hate it. I came out on the other side with a new understanding and a chip in my emotional armor.

I didn't expect to like it; I didn't want to like it. My mindset before I even got to the first words was, this will be a did not finish book. I took one bathroom break during this read.

Of course, tastes are selective. :) One of things great about today's technology is we don't have to purchase a book without a test drive. Sample chapters are available on Amazon and Smashwords.

It's labeled as an erotic read, but it's not sexual graphic, by the way.

  5. I am almost finished reading a book called One Day at a Time by Danielle Steel. Since 1981 she has been on the New York Times best sellers list.
