Another note for today

For those of you looking for the post from today, please note I have taken it down. No, this was not due to negative cricitism, but that lack of focus from several readers.
Please note the regularly scheduled posts will be back tomorrow.

  1. Kristin Nelson had recently made similar comments about the writing in 50 Shades of Gray in her blog Pub Rants.

Perhaps I'm the lone voice in the wilderness, but I understood your points and appreciated you taking the time to explain each one in rejection letter format.

Thanks for the shout out to Spring Fling 2012. We're so glad you enjoyed the conference!

  2. Honesty is refreshing. You dished some out yesterday and it was spot on.

But today I'm disappointed to see you choose to censor yourself and blame readers for your decision.

Political correctness will eventually smother us.

  3. Laurie and Miss Sharp,

Thank you so much for your support on this one. I have to say, I did not want this to come across as "censoring" myself. I simply felt that there were too many people who were pulling the comments out of context instead of truly understanding the educational value of the post. I also felt that many of the comments that showed up did clearly point out why so many authors WILL NOT make it in this business. If criticism is something that people cannot handle then publishing isn't the place for them.

Again, thank you for the support on this one. It's followers like YOU that make writing this blog enjoyable and worth doing.

  4. It was very educational and I'm glad I got a chance to read it before it disappeared into the ether. I didn't see the comments, but it sounds like there are a lot of writers out there who are far too easily offended.

Thank you, Scott. So many agents have stopped blogging lately, maybe at least partly due to the problem you just pointed out, and it's great that you still share so much.

Your blog is first on my "must-read" list!
