Really quick post her for a Wednesday.
How much do you invest in your writing? Where does that investment come from?
I think a lot of beginning writers really struggle with this because they are viewing their writing from a hobby point of view. If you have something to write about, then you write. If there is nothing passing through your brain at that particular time, you don't write. In other words, the investment is not there in the career.
As a writer, we have to invest in our writing all of the time. This includes not just the time that it takes to write and work on our craft daily, but also to a commitment to attending conferences, take courses (even if we are extensively published) and certainly the marketing.
That investment will pay off in the long run. You will have a long and successful career. But you have to commit to it.
