Loving that Turkey Day

So, we knew this year would be a bit different from the ones in the past, but in the last 24 hours, things really made a huge shift.

Like all other families, we would get together, not with those massive crowds of people around the dinner table, but with the grandparents and some of the extended family for dinner. Well, this year, that did not happen.

We were scheduled to see my mother and her husband later today. The extended family wouldn't be there this year due to visiting other sides of the family so it would have been a smaller setting. No problem.

But, an illness now meant that dinner was off at mom's. Go to plan B.

Figured we would try to work out something at the last minute on my dad's side. Nope that one didn't work. Flu on that side of the family.

The wife's family is in San Diego. Can't go there. Her sister, normally across town has gone off camping.

So, it's just us. Just our single family.

Is that a problem. No way! This is a chance to truly be thankful for what we have.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

  1. We had the same small Thanksgiving at our family's house. Everyone was off visiting their other family for dinner, so it was just us, my parents, and my grandmother.

And still, we had far too much food. :)

  2. I'm pretty good about cooking with no leftovers. I had planned on making Turkey Noodle soup so I had some extra turkey I cooked just for that purpose. Other than that, the 5 of us finished off what I cooked, were not bloated and walked away from the table happy.
