Even agents have bad days

I am writing this from my iPad so hang with me if you see typos. As an agent, one of the tough things to deal with is hearing from an editor who passes on a client's project. Yes, I know you feel the pain as a writer too, but in this case, we get to deal with the rejection two times. The first is obviously when we hear it from the editor. The second comes from the call to the writer to pass on the information. Now is the time for the agent to be more of a friend than a business partner. So what do we do? The answer is simple. We fix what we can. We look to the future. And yes, in some cases, just have a drink. Remember though. This is not the end of the world. As an agent, we signed on to work with you because we believe in you. It will happen. Time to go board the airplane now. Scot

  1. And I imagine your writers feel grateful, even on the bad days, to have you in their corner.

    Cheers!
