Updates And Opportunities

Greyhaus Literary Agency will be closed to submissions from July 1 through August 31. This is due to two reasons. The first is to give me the chance to be with my family and get my oldest ready for college (Big Times!). Any one who submitted prior to that date from an initial request will still get a response from me. Any new submissions received during that time WILL NOT BE READ. You will have to resubmit in September.

The second reason for closing is an opportunity for you. I will be offering an opportunity of critiques to raise money for a fantastic charity.

As many of you know, my daughter rides as an equestrian in Hunter and Jumper competitions. It was through her involvement that I became aware of this fantastic charity, THE EQUUS FOUNDATION.

I am setting up the donation phase of this at the present time, but here is how this will work.

Authors can receive a critique for either a query letter, 3-5 page synopsis, or the first three chapters of a story for a donation to the foundation.

Please note that the critique WILL NOT count as a submission and as much as I might love the story and want to sign the story, on offer will not be made. Should an author decide to submit a story later that would be entirely up to the author.

Critiques WILL NOT be line edits but offer general suggestions. This is especially the case for the first three chapter critiques.

At this time, the rates for the critiques are as follows:
  • Query Letter $25.00
  • 3-5 Page Synopsis $50.00
  • First Three Chapters $75.00
Again, ALL proceeds will go to the Equus Foundation.

Swim A Thon Critique Winner(s)

First of all, I want to thank all those that donated to the swim-a-thon. If you have been following any of the swim programs in your area, you will hear time and time again of how budget cuts are closing one pool after another. Fund raising programs such as this help out all the time.

THANK YOU!

The winner of the partial critique by random name draw was...

LATEIA SANDIFER

As a way to say thank you, I will also critique a 3-5 page, double spaced synopsis for the following writers who donated...

Su Ah Chu
Steena Holmes
Ederlen Ojeda

Again, I thank you all.

Email me directly for information on how to get the project to me!

Win a Critique and Help a Swim Team

As you know, ,my kids are active with USA Swimming. Each year, like many other swim teams, they hold a swim-a-thon. This is a great way to raise money for the team.

This year, I will donate a critique of 30 pages and a synopsis to one person who donates to the swim team. The name will be randomly drawn!

I know my kids would very much appreciate any of your financial help.

To help follow the link below:

http://www.firstgiving.com/kingaquaticclub

Once on the page, follow the link to an individual member. Instead of creating three sites for each of the kids, we have linked them all under my son's name. Enter Rowan Poppen-Eagan

It's that simple and we could really use your help. It takes a lot to keep a swim team going and this is a great sport that builds not only strong bodies but strong individuals.

Thank you all in advance!

Critique Opportunity to help USA Swim Team - Repost

The South Sound Titans is a swim team located in Sumner, Washington. Each year, like other USA Swimming teams, they have a swim-a-thon to raise operating funds for the year. To assist this team, I am offering a chance for writers to help out, and to receive critiques.

The rules are simple, but please note, this is a fast turn around.

1. Writers may submit up to 50 pages of manuscript. Manuscripts must be double spaced and standard font size.

2. Writers donate $1.00/page to the South Sound Titans.

3. Checks are written directly to the SOUTH SOUND TITANS. Mail to: South Sound Titan's Auction c/o Greyhaus Literary Agency 3021 20th St. Pl. SW. Puyallup, WA. 98373

4. Manuscripts are submitted electronically to the Greyhaus Literary Agency via the contest email address - contests@greyhausagency.com. Manuscripts should be submitted as an attachment and be submitted in a Rich Text Format (.rtf). Please include name and contact information in the message portion of the email. You don't have to wait until you send the check. I simply will begin the critique after the check has arrived.

5. Checks must be received by Feb. 13th. Submissions will not be read until the check arrives.

6. Critiques will be sent to the writer via email.

7. Please label submission in the Subject line as - SOUTH SOUND TITANS CRITIQUE.

8. Critiques are not considered pitches and no critique regardless of the quality will receive an offer to submit more material to Greyhaus Literary Agency or offer of representation. Writers can submit at a later date through the normal submission process.

9. Greyhaus Literary Agency is not receiving any profits from this critique opportunity. Greyhaus Literary Agency is in no way trying to gain new writers through this process. It is simply a way to assist writers and a non-profit organization.
