Do You Know Why We Use...

Beginning on Monday, I want to take the time to start a new series here on the blog called, "Do You Know Why We Use..."

I started thinking about this idea after reading a few submissions that told me a lot about the writerw. It was very clear they had attended conferences and workshops, or had read some great books on techniques. In each of these cases, I could see writers inserting what they were told by someone as a great tool. The problem was that in all of the cases, the tools and techniques were being used improperly. Instead of assisting with the story, they hurt the story.

So, we'll be dealing with a lot of those things you are told time and time again to use, but really focusing, not on how you use the technique, but WHY you use the technique.
