Potential ONLINE Conference This Summer - I need your feedback

I am looking at running an online conference this summer. The plan is to run it for 1 week allowing participants to participate in workshops, chats and pitch sessions. The idea behind this is to provide a week of activities for people who might be unable to attend the RWA National Conference in Atlanta due to time or finances. As far as cost goes, I am looking at keeping it VERY reasonable. In other words, a lot of "bang for the buck."

At this point it is still in the formative stages, but I want to hear from you.

If you could participate in this type of conference, what would you like to see? Why type of sessions and workshops would  you be interested in? What type of chats and so forth?

Let me know what you think. Give me suggestions of things to consider. I am also going to try to get some agents and editors who might not be going to Nationals to also help out in this venture.

  1. I would love to see something like this. The kidlit community does something like this and it's really helpful...except it's a little limiting for those of us who don't write kidlit.

The opportunity to pitch would be nice, but even more I'd enjoy workshops and chats
    - various methods of plotting
    - differences in writing single title romance vs category vs women's fiction
    - opportunities for feedback from peers, editors, agents
    - fleshing out characters

I could probably think of a whole big long list. I really like the idea, so I'm hoping to see it happen :-D

  2. The future of publishing is here. Critique sessions are great. And the more acquisitions editors with contracts in hand, the merrier! ;)
